Medley Grill & BBQ is a barbecue restaurant in Chicago’s Avalon Park neighborhood, specializing in smoked meats, Southern-inspired sides, and flavorful dishes prepared over fire. Founded by Charles Thurman, the restaurant brings a distinctive approach to South Side barbecue with a menu featuring beef, poultry, seafood, and meatless options—all without pork.

The concept grew from Thurman’s interest in exploring different styles of smoked and grilled food during his travels. What began as a hobby of recreating those flavors for family and friends developed into a restaurant celebrating the variety of foods that can be prepared using smoke and fire.

Medley Grill & BBQ serves smoked Angus brisket, beef back ribs, turkey tips, beef and turkey hot links, and smoked chicken wings. Customers can also enjoy the Medley Burger, brisket bowls, and combination plates featuring multiple smoked meats. The restaurant uses hickory wood to prepare several of its signature barbecue selections.

Traditional comfort food sides complement the barbecue menu, including macaroni and cheese, candied yams, collard greens, brisket baked beans, black-eyed peas, Cajun corn, and honey cornbread. Vegetarian options include smoked portobello mushrooms, smoked pineapple, and several meatless sides.

Beyond individual meals, Medley Grill & BBQ offers catering for birthdays, weddings, corporate gatherings, holiday celebrations, and other events. Its catering menu includes smoked brisket, ribs, turkey, chicken, salmon, lamb, and a variety of Southern-inspired sides, with options for groups of different sizes.

Customers can order online for pickup or delivery, making the restaurant a convenient choice for everyday meals and group orders.

For Chicago residents looking for pork-free barbecue, smoked brisket, turkey tips, and homestyle sides, Medley Grill & BBQ offers a South Side dining option built around scratch-made food and the flavors of smoke and fire.
