Kilwins Chicago is a collection of Black-owned franchise chocolate and ice cream shops operated by entrepreneur Jacqueline “Jackie” Jackson and her family. With locations throughout Chicago, including Hyde Park, Andersonville, River North, the Loop, and Navy Pier, Kilwins offers handcrafted chocolates, premium ice cream, fresh fudge, and traditional confections.
Jackie Jackson began her journey with Kilwins after a visit to a chocolate shop brought back childhood memories of visiting candy stores with her mother. Inspired by that experience, she entered the confectionery business and eventually expanded her locally owned franchise operation across several Chicago neighborhoods. Her daughter, Janel Jackson, later joined the family business.
Kilwins is known for its Original Recipe ice cream, available in a variety of flavors and served in freshly made waffle cones, sundaes, and milkshakes. Its chocolate selection includes handcrafted truffles, chocolate-covered pretzels, nut clusters, sea-salt caramels, and other specialty sweets.
The shops also feature Kilwins’ signature Mackinac Island Fudge, traditionally prepared in copper kettles and hand-paddled on marble tables. Additional favorites include caramel apples, caramel corn, brittle, and seasonal chocolates.
Beyond everyday desserts, Kilwins offers giftable chocolates and specialty confections for birthdays, holidays, celebrations, and other occasions. The Chicago franchise locations combine the established Kilwins confectionery tradition with local family ownership and neighborhood connections.
