Justice of the Pies is a Black-owned bakery in Chicago’s Avalon Park neighborhood specializing in handcrafted sweet and savory pies, quiches, tarts, and creative baked goods. Founded by chef Maya-Camille Broussard, the bakery combines inventive flavors, family traditions, and a commitment to social justice and community involvement.

Broussard established Justice of the Pies in honor of her late father, Stephen J. Broussard, a criminal defense attorney who loved baking and called himself the Pie Master. The bakery’s name celebrates both his passion for pies and his belief that everyone deserves an opportunity to change their lives.

The bakery is known for reimagining classic desserts with distinctive flavor combinations. Signature creations include Salted Caramel Peach Pie, Strawberry-Basil Key Lime Pie, and Brandied Banana Butterscotch Pie. Its offerings also include traditional favorites, seasonal specialties, savory pies, and quiches, with selections changing throughout the year.

Through the I KNEAD LOVE Workshop, the bakery introduces elementary-aged children from lower-income communities to basic cooking skills, nutrition, and creativity in the kitchen.
