D’s Roti & Trini Cuisine is a Trinidadian restaurant in Chicago’s West Englewood neighborhood, specializing in handmade roti, traditional Caribbean curries, and popular street foods from Trinidad and Tobago. The restaurant brings the flavors of the twin-island nation to Chicago’s South Side with freshly prepared dishes, authentic seasonings, and comforting Caribbean favorites.

Handmade roti is one of the restaurant’s specialties. Customers can choose from dhalpuri, a soft flatbread filled with seasoned ground split peas, or paratha, also known as buss-up-shut, a buttery, layered roti served alongside flavorful curries. Options include curry chicken, goat, lamb, beef, salmon, and potato with chickpeas.

D’s Roti also serves doubles, one of Trinidad’s most recognizable street foods. Made with two pieces of fried flatbread filled with seasoned chickpeas, doubles can be enjoyed with house-made sauces. Other starters include bake and saltfish, featuring fried bread stuffed with seasoned cod, and pholourie, small seasoned fried dough bites traditionally paired with dipping sauces.

The menu also features Caribbean rice plates, with selections such as curry chicken, saltfish, and curry potato with chickpeas. Homestyle sides include pumpkin talkarie, sautéed spinach known as bhaji, and other traditional preparations.

Daily and weekly specials bring additional variety, including chicken pelau, fried kingfish with lentils and Creole rice, Trinidadian corn soup, and Sunday meals featuring stewed chicken, macaroni pie, and callaloo.

For dessert, customers can enjoy Caribbean sweets such as currant rolls and cassava pone. Beverages include sorrel, ginger beer, mauby, and Caribbean soft drinks.

With online ordering and a menu rooted in Trinidadian cooking traditions, D’s Roti & Trini Cuisine offers Chicago diners a destination for handmade roti, Caribbean street food, and flavorful island-inspired meals.
