Cantina Rosa is a Mexican-inspired cocktail bar and dining destination in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, specializing in craft cocktails, agave spirits, and small plates influenced by regional Mexican cuisine. Created by Virtue Hospitality, the team behind acclaimed Chicago restaurant Virtue, Cantina Rosa combines Mexican culinary traditions with creative mixology and a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere.

Led by chef and restaurateur Erick Williams, Cantina Rosa draws inspiration from the flavors, ingredients, and traditions of Mexico. The bar’s name honors Williams’ grandmother, Rosetta, reflecting the personal connections and family influences behind the concept. Mexican members of the Virtue Hospitality team also contribute their cultural knowledge and expertise to the experience.

Agave spirits are central to Cantina Rosa’s beverage program. The bar offers an extensive selection of tequila, mezcal, raicilla, bacanora, and sotol, alongside Mexican cane spirits, rum, whiskey, wine, and beer. Its cocktail menu features creative combinations of tropical fruits, herbs, spices, and traditional spirits, with selections such as Rosa’s Paloma, Jalisco’s Treasure, and Paddle Cactus.

The food menu features Mexican-inspired small plates, or botanas, designed to complement the drinks. Guests can enjoy chicken tinga tostadas, tacos, lamb quesabirria, Oaxacan tamales, mushroom empanadas, shrimp aguachile, and other shareable dishes.

Cantina Rosa also offers spirit-free cocktails for guests seeking nonalcoholic options. Happy hour specials are available on select evenings and Sundays, providing additional opportunities to explore the bar’s beverages and food.

For date nights, gatherings with friends, and private celebrations, Cantina Rosa offers a distinctive Hyde Park destination where Mexican-inspired flavors, thoughtful cocktails, and Chicago hospitality come together.
