APS & Associates is a Black woman-owned public affairs firm based in downtown Chicago. Founder and CEO Alex P. Sims-Jones launched the firm in 2017. APS works with elected officials, corporations, nonprofits, government agencies, campaigns, and community organizations.

The firm helps clients build strategies around public policy, communications, politics, and community engagement. Services include public affairs strategy, political strategy, lobbying, research, fundraising, and general consulting.

APS also handles communications and paid media. The team develops press strategies, pitches media, writes press releases, and manages messaging. Paid media services cover digital advertising, television, radio, direct mail, social media, and email marketing.

Community outreach is another major part of the firm’s work. APS develops grassroots strategies, organizes canvassing and phone banks, and plans community events. Its team uses research and data to guide campaigns and measure results.

APS has worked with organizations and public leaders across Chicago and nationally. Its clients have included the Obama Foundation, AARP Illinois, Cook County Health, SEIU Healthcare and Bally’s Chicago.
